herniated disc

Frequently back pain is brought on by muscular contractions or wrong positions that can be overcome through a series of conscious movements. But the situation becomes more serious when the pain is caused by a herniated disc.

The intervertebral disc is an elastic bearing located between vertebral bodies and it consists in a core of gelatinous substance rich in water, surrounded by a more rigid peripheral ring formed by fibrous tissue. It works as a shock absorber in the column because it attenuates the shots supporting the strong pressures and disperses the shock waves that run along the column.

The structural weakening caused by wearing, aging, mechanical stress, trauma, can lead to a deterioration of the disc slowly dehydrate and crack the material. The degeneration progresses with the fragmentation of the nucleus pulposus which reaches and penetrates through the cracks to protrude outward in a "disc protrusion". But the structural weakening can also be caused by bad posture, which usually we assume over the course of our lives and a misuse of himself. The net of muscles and ligaments supporting the building of the spine is weakened because of the lack of conscious movements.

The disc become supportless can be injured if stressed. The disc herniation is a degenerative disease of the spine, affects the lower back that bears heavy loads, rare in the cervical, is more common in young males. The posterior-lateral disc herniation - is the most common side determines the onset of pain near the hernia. The bulge, pressing on the nerve root that branches from the bone, radiates acute pain, numbness, paresthesia, initial sensory deficit then motory of the part of the body served by the nerve.

Disc degeneration

The disc protrusion, initially compresses the posterior ligament, which is equipped with pain receptors and contains the disc. If the protrusion progresses, we come to the formation of a "herniated disc", which can compress a nerve root, causing pain and sometimes loss of motor-sensitive function.

As the hernia is a very complicated disease we recommend a series of FI (Functional Integration lessons) within the Center.

It is important to stop in order to figure out what went wrong in our lives. People can stay for some days absorbed in the green that surrounds the center an ideal environment that can help to stop the rountine of life and to get in thouch with our self and our body. You will have the opportunity to begin a mental process for:

- Becoming aware of the body
- Learning how to properly use its structures.
- Creating new functional organisations

Cut your mind obsessions, commitments and problems is the way of introducing  well-being in life.
