Movement for the eyes (ATM)


Place your hands over your eyes with the overlying fingers on the forehead, so that the nose comes out between the angle formed by both hands pressed on the cheeks and the forehead and do not make any pressure on the eyeballs.

The fingers of the right hand are over the left hand, placed so that light can not filter. Make sure your hands and arms are light, because in this particular location they might shrink. Then gently move your elbows to eliminate unnecessary tensions, bringing attention to the breathing in roder to hear if it flows freely or if it is fast and short and involves a small part of the body.

With the eyes closed, try to understand the nature of the images you are seeing: they may be colored spots, flashing lights, shapes in black and white, or you could see all the black surface or balck dots on scattered among flashes of light. This occurs when you are restless and the mind is calm, because the optic nerve is excited and records shapes and colors. Slowly try to see if in the background, blacks between these points, you can notice one of them darker than others; imagine that it would grow to become bigger and bigger until it completely covers the entire background.


Observe hoe the breath responds. Does the inhalation affects the black or the light that you can see? Hold your breath and observe yourselves. Then breathe normally, making sure that you do not hold your breathing and that the particular position of the arms does not affect it.

Relax while keeping the eyes closed.

Now squeeze your eyes a few times: what do you notice after you have squeezed the eyelids as if they were wings of a butterfly. Do uou see shapes, colors, waves? If you pay attention you might notice a bright color that comes out before you continue to see black. (Part of lesson on the eyes that comes from "Esalen Seminar 1972" by Moshe Feldenkrais).

If you have difficulty in turning the black dot you can move from the imaginary to real and look with open eyes and a big O on a black painted cardboard, in order to describe the vision of circumferences, diameters, central and peripheral points. Follow the outline of the O that you see before you with a soft and sweet looking, so you can describe the whole surface.


Assume the starting position, with hands that are overlying on cheeks and forehead and eyelids lowered. Imagine the object that you have seen before "in front" of you, observing every detail and the intensity of the color.

Think of this big O, thick and black, as it would have a white center and marke its boundary with a velvety look, first clockwise, then counterclockwise.

Imagine the O placed vertically on the soil around your head, lying in the white hole, follow the circle in both direction, until you delete spurts (little jumps) that occasionally you notice and feel the motion becoming smooth.
